Buildings and Content Insurance
Buildings and Contents insurance is vital for all homeowners. If anything were to happen to your home or contents, the premium you paid to protect these items could prove to be the best investment you ever made!

Basically, home insurance is split into two parts: Buildings insurance and Contents insurance.

Buildings insurance protects your house itself, the bricks and mortar as it were. It covers you against risks such as fire, flooding, subsidence and storm damage etc. Usually, it also protects fixtures inside your property such as fitted bathrooms and kitchens.

Contents insurance protects all other belongings inside the property such as your furniture, carpets, clothing and equipment. You would therefore be covered in the event of fire, flood and theft.

Both policies can be extended to cover additional risks such as accidental damage, which would insure your carpet or computer if someone spilled a drink over it example, or putting your foot through the ceiling whilst in the loft.

You can protect high risk items such as bicycles, paintings and jewellery in and away from the home. Many people now also include Home Emergency cover and Family Legal Protection to pay for emergencies in the home such as burst pipes and covering the cost of neighbor or contractual disputes. Including these in your home insurance is usually much cheaper than paying separately for this kind of cover.

The cost of insuring your home and contents will vary depending on the amount to be insured, your post code, the number of bedrooms in your home and your previous claims experience.

We research dozens of companies on your behalf to find the most appropriate policy for you.
